Feng Shui in the Most Important Room in the House: the Bedroom

According to Feng Shui, the bedroom is the most important room in the house. We spend a third of our lives asleep. Therefore, it is especially important to keep our bedrooms free of harmful, pathogenic or disturbing influences. The body needs to be able to recover so the mind can come to rest.

Even the choice of where the bedroom is located plays a role in Feng Shui. Sleeping is considered low energy activity, so the bedroom should be located in an area of the house where there is little activity.

If you are a morning person, choose a room in the east. For evening people, a room in the west is located. The room should be illuminated by the sun, but not the bed.

Once you have found a suitable room, how you set up your room is important.  A solid wall in front of and behind the bed provides a sense of security. The bed should not stand in line with the door and should be at least 1.5 meters away from the window. Chi flows from one opening to another, from the door to the window, for example. Spending too much time in the middle of this flow can lead to health problems.

Sockets, switches, electronic appliances as well as heating and water pipes should optimally not be located near the bed (about one meter distance is better). It is also best if the bed and mattress have as few metal parts as possible (avoid spring mattresses).

If the bedroom is clean and well structured, it exudes calm, becoming a place of relaxation. Less is more here. The room should be clearly structured, not a storage space. Large house plants do not belong in the bedroom, but soft wall colors do. For color palette, choose soft brown or sand tones and whites. A light blue-gray helps soften the stress of everyday life. The result is a pleasant climate that guarantees a deep and restful sleep.
