Interior Decor Trends 2020: Trendy Materials

Interior Decor Trends 2020: Trendy Materials

Let's take a look in the glass ball and look at the interior design trends in materials next year.

Wood

At the moment, all decoration trends point in the direction of one main material: Wood. The emphasis is on pine, oak and mahogany. Wood is best showcased especially in the following areas:

  • In house structures such as ceilings or columns
  • Floors
  • Furniture
  • Surfaces
  • Decorations
  • Windows

In 2020, there is a clear tendency towards dark wood. This is in stark contrast to previous years, where light wood tones dominated. The darker colours add elegance and a touch of luxury to the decor.

Vegetable fibres

In addition to the increased use of wood, there will also be a trend towards nature in the home next year. Plant fibres are also on the rise in decorative objects in 2020. Increasingly, jute, rattan and wicker will be used as interior materials. These give the decor texture and make it more inviting.

Leather

There are materials that almost never go out of style, but which are particularly suitable for specific seasons. Leather armchairs will be widely used next year. These are used to create an industrial look.

Metal

Matching perfectly with leather, next year a lot of metal will be in demand, in different variants. The focus here is on the steel look for an industrial aesthetic, but metals with an oxidized look, such as brass, are also in the foreground. In addition, you can always rely on the classics gold and silver.

The metals should usually be incorporated into the decoration, eg. in the form of mirror frames or furniture legs, such as coffee tables or leather chairs. But it is also possible to use small decorative objects or lamps made of metal. Metal gives the different rooms added brightness and luminosity. The beauty of metal is that it can be adapted to any style - whether modern, classic, vintage or minimalist - to suit every taste.
