Which pressure washer is the best?
The "best" high-pressure cleaner always depends on the area of application and the technical requirements. The decisive factors are the pressure output (bar), water flow rate (l/h), accessories and the size of the surface to be cleaned.
Kärcher offers various performance classes within the well-known K series for orientation:
- K2 - entry-level appliances for light cleaning jobs such as bicycles or garden furniture
- K3 - for occasional cleaning jobs around the house
- K4 - versatile devices for patios, cars and medium-sized areas
- K5 - powerful appliances for regular use and larger areas
- K7 - particularly powerful for intensive cleaning work, large patios or driveways
Which pressure washer to buy?
When buying a pressure washer, the following criteria should be taken into account:
- Pressure output (bar)
- Water flow rate (litres per hour)
- Size of the area to be cleaned
- Frequency of use
- available accessories for special applications
Entry-level appliances are sufficient for simple cleaning tasks, while more powerful models are recommended for large areas or frequent use.
How much bar should a high-pressure cleaner have?
The required pressure output depends heavily on the application - typical guide values:
- 100-120 bar - light cleaning work, garden furniture, bicycles
- 120-140 bar - cars, patios, fences
- 140-180 bar - larger stone surfaces, driveways or heavier soiling
In addition to the pressure, the water flow rate (l/h) is also decisive, as it influences how quickly larger areas can be cleaned.
How does a pressure washer work?
A high-pressure cleaner works with a pump that highly compresses water. An electric motor drives this pump and significantly increases the water pressure. The water is then channelled through a high-pressure hose to the spray gun and ejected at high speed through a special nozzle.
The resulting water jet is particularly effective at removing dirt, deposits, moss or dust from surfaces. Different nozzles or attachments allow the water jet to be customised to suit the cleaning task.
