Decoration ideas for Christmas

Christmas is not just a time for reflection and family, it is also a time for decoration. The houses are festively decorated both inside and outside and it can be really stylish.

For your inspiration, we have put together a few fabulous festive Christmas decoration ideas. Let yourself be inspired by it and best adapt it to your own personal style - whether traditional with lots of red colour or very modern - and your personal preferences. Here are a few ideas on how to add a festive touch to your home.

The entrance to the house

A Christmas-themed house entrance invites guests to linger from afar. The central focus is of course a Christmas door wreath - very classic. In addition, there are a few potted plants such as magnolias that frame the door on the right and left. Live plants are best suited for this because you can plant them later in the garden.

The postbox

The postbox is often overlooked when it comes to decorative options. Which is a shame because you can fully live out your own creativity here. It beautifies the house entrance and serves as a real eye-catcher, especially because it is rarely festively decorated - whether you transform the postbox into a Christmas tree or decorate it differently, for example with garlands or you place a few Christmas figures as an arrangement around the postbox. As you can see, there are many options here.

Lanterns

Nothing spreads a more beautiful glow than a candle. The cosy flickering makes everything a little more homely and it spreads warmth. The best thing to do is to put a couple of lanterns with candles inside. Lanterns and candles come in all sorts of colours and shapes, so you can customise them perfectly to suit your style. Incidentally, a couple of dummy gift items look particularly good next to lanterns and make a Christmas feel.

The Christmas tree

A Christmas tree simply belongs to Christmas. And because there is a tree in almost every house every year, old Christmas tree decorations naturally accumulate over time. This can be reused perfectly, for example as a decoration. But of course, it also fits wonderfully on the Christmas tree, even if you have already bought new decorations. The greater the number of different colours, themes and shapes, the more personal the tree becomes.

The dining table

What should never be missing on a festively set dining table is, of course, an elegant, large decorative heart. As always, there are no limits to your imagination. For example, you could go into the forest and collect pine cones, sticks and leaves for decoration, or use flowers or berries, or just a large, solid silver vase. Metallic surfaces have the advantage that they reflect light and visually give the decoration even more depth.

Napkin rings

You can easily give your table a personal character by making napkin rings yourself. You can coordinate the rings perfectly with the rest of the decoration or furnishings or set contrasting accents. Instructions for napkin rings in various shapes and types can be found in abundance on the Internet. You are spoiled for choice.

Fairy lights

Of course, Christmas lights are not just on the Christmas trees. Most people decorate their houses and balconies with some kind of fairy lights during the Advent season. You can also use fairy lights around the house. They are particularly suitable for setting individual accents because they attract attention.

Lighting

If you want the Christmassy mood to be felt in every corner of your home, decorate as much as possible. What is often overlooked are the lights. A garland on a ceiling light or on the base of a floor lamp creates more mood. Another advantage: the decoration of lamps takes up little or no additional space.

What else can I decorate?

Always ask yourself what else you could decorate. Whether it's pictures, columns or railings, the possibilities are almost endless and you can choose freely. As a quick alternative, you can also use lamps with Christmas motifs.

And that brings us to the end of our tips. Of course, we could list many more, but that's not the point of this article. We wanted to inspire you and stimulate your imagination. The nice thing about decorating is that you can't go wrong. As long as you like it, everything looks festive and cosy, you have been successful. With this in mind, we wish you a lot of fun decorating and a nice Advent season.
